Decided to troll for stripers only this morning for a couple of hours before going into town for a doctor's appointment ( the price of getting older). landed 3 that were 8,7, and 7 pounds and lost one perhaps biggers. used leadcore line and bass plugs. great fun. nearly ripped the rods out of the boat. time to get out the cast net again maybe and catch some shad and fish more for them. jim![]()

good catch could you run down riggers if you kept them up higher or are trees to bad for that
I ran downriggers for a time when i fished for trout, walleye, and stripers in the midwest. effective, but i never really liked using them. in talquin, the wood poses a real problem. running into a tree with a crappie jig or two is bad enough, but running into one with a downrigger ball could be a real mess. the stripers were 10 feet or deeper for a short time in early am, but quickly 15 ft. or more after the first hour.
that's a good idea trees make it tough any where
