Beautiful...............thanks for Sharing....................
Those stripers are sure fun to catch. Was not aware that FWC had stocked
any of those babies in Lake Seminole. Was aware that they used to be in
Medard Lake prior to draw down 4 yrs ago for dam repair.
caught this striper May 9th, 2007Attachment 149800
I'd. Be sawing him into steaks for the grill.
Stripers run up and down the Chattahoochee river. I am not aware of FWC stocking any stripers in Seminole. To my knowledge they came from Ga DNR stocking them in Lake Lanier and they traveled down. Ga DNR does still actively stock hybrids or what FWC calls sunshine bass. Saltwater Stripers travel upstream to freshwater to spawn and we catch them in the Ocklocknee and below Seminole dam in early spring. I have not fished a Georgia reservoir or river without some presence of stripers.
Correct me if i am wrong. I thougt this gentleman said he caught fish in
lake Seminole ? Being from middle Florida i had assumed he met Lake Seminole
off Park Ave between St Petersburg & Lake Tarpon (both freshwater impoundments)
FWC used to stock stripers in lake Medard (850 acre) impoundment in Hillsborough
County east of Tampa, Fl. - than 5 yr ago they lowered the lake to almost nothing
but few deep holes and repaired the dam. It is now on its 5th yr of recovery.
The one off Park Blvd. is the lake I thought he was talking about, anyone know about the crappie population in it.
Have been told by few fishermen from around that area that fish Lake Tarpon
also have fished Lake Seminole and they say their are reasonably good Spec's
in it.
I have never been on it........looks to be somewhat shallow, unknown size of lake,
hydrilla or grass content. Also, known as reasonable bass lake
May have to try it this spring, Im from Indiana but the inlaws live a little less than a mile away.
Sorry, guys I thought Lake Seminole and Jack Wingate were world renowned. Lake Seminole incorporates the southwest corner of Georgia, the southeast corner of Alabama and the north central border of the panhandle. I have no idea about Park Avenue or another Lake Seminole. The lake I am talking about is about 30,000 acres and formed by the Flint and Chattahoochee rivers. It is a frequent by the major bass trails and considered one of the top bass lakes in the nation. Sorry for the confusion.
