    Default Talquin 01/20/2014

Been meaning to post since monday, but haven't had time. Got a new fish finder (HB 346cDI) and some drift master rod holders. Did not do much fishin last year year because my wife and I had our second daughter in Sept 2012..so anyway, it's been a while since i've fished and was excited to get back out on the lake. The day started off the wrong way....wanted to put in at Joe Budd to avoid the stinkin buzzards at coes....i remember them being there from the year before but hadn't been back....wasn't going to take any chances.....but then realized that i don't know of anywhere that sells minners near the Joe Budd ramp (anyone know of a bait store over there?)....so decided to head down highway 20....bought minners and decided to take my chances at coes.....got there @ 830 and there were 3 trucks in the parking lot....all covered up with buzzards.....left there and drove around to Joe Budd....put in and headed up the river.....long story short, i didn't start fishin till about 930....got into a few fish between 1030 and 1130....some grown ones....was a great weather day and was glad to be back.

Good report and nice photos. I visited every boat landing on Talquin, both east and west side about 3 weeks ago and those buzzards were at Coe then. I wondered about that. There were maybe 8 or 9 rigs in the lot and buzzards were sitting on top of two pickup. Several had buzzard poop on them. Too bad for that's a great landing and close to the river.

If you will put a five gallon bucket of fish guts in the back of Hookers truck it will deter them from yours.

With the Industrial Strenth Hooks (One Time Hangers) you have to have healthy bank account when the fish are shallow or in the flats.......
