Thats exactly what i said. In my driveway prepping no problem, on the water in a hot bite replacing a grub i get pretty aggravated with em. I dont worry about posts like that, especially if they dont know Southern Pro.
Gold Sickle hooks are light enough wire for me. I get back enough of them from hang ups that I don't mind the few I loose to a stump. I don't understand what makes the lightwire hooks give when they do on a fish. I have caught some 3 lbs catfish on them, and then have a 1.75 lbs crappie bend it out at the boat during a tournament at AL River. Both on different new lightwire hooks. I just feel better with the Gold Sickles. The Black Chrome sickles seem a lot stronger and don't give as much. The red ones are just gold ones with a plating or chemical treatment that will scratch off and show a gold hook. Have used some bronze other brand hooks that seemed to want to rust real easy. All comes down to what you try and what you like after you try. Pretty much why I started pouring and painting my own to get exactly what I wanted. Those sickles are sharp too. Seems I can't make it a day fishing without bleeding.
Yes sir them sickles are great hooks. Had a fellow local here s few years backnmake me some but he closed up shop. Then found them big bites and almost as good and razor sharp too.
Getting back to the topic, Lightwirehooker also makes jig heads with sickle hooks and many other kinds of hooks, but the litewire hook just happens to be his most popular hook. For the money on any kind of hook, it's hard to beat the quality, price or service on any of his jig heads.
I never said he did not have a quality head, in fact they are high quality and coated with care. Just dont get along with the wire hooks.
Last year at Talquin we got into some stripers in the channel......Since we decided to try to catch several, we changed to red sickle hooks and boated 6 stripers in a hurry. I agree on the hooks........if there is trash, stumps, logs, (Lake Talquin), you can't beat the litewirehooks. Every hooks has a purpose....that's why they make so many different sizes and shapes, but many people perfer the litewirehooks . ..........after all........... you can't catch a fish when you are tieing on another hook.
