Got back to central Florida about a week or so ago. Took care of some horse business (not monkey business) at the farm and got itching to go check out the lagoon. So we met up with Danny and put in at Haulover Canal. Then for the next few hours the fishing was on fire and we caught reds and trout til we were worn out.... oh sorry I was day dreaming again. Back to reality... the lagoon is a greenish brownish mess with dead seagrass everywhere. Saw lots of crabs drifting on top of the water. Saw signs of reds or trout or mullet in 18 inches of water but water is so murky you cant actually see the fish like before. You can only see the wake of the fish.
Anyways, we had a great day on the water but we were bummed to see the state it was in.
Hope everyone is doing well!

Up by Ponce Inlet in Spruce Creek? We will try that out. We went up as far as Boston Whaler and water was bad up that way. Wwnt to our favorite crabbing hole in that cut you told us about catching finger mullet in and it was green and cloudy too which is south of Boston Whaler.
We are considering trying some place on the West Coast this Winter. Not sure where though. Or maybe the Keys. Terry has never been to the Keys.

West coast huh! Ft Desoto state park!!!!! But book now the pet sites fill quickly! Give me a lil while and i will tell ya a great site there. And yes up by the inlet is sparkling clear, not sure about Spruce Creek.
Sites 103, 105 and 107 are real nice.. they have about 20' of grass behind campsite along seawall to fish from. Can tie up boat at campsite or across from site along seawall which most do so you can fish from site. But start looking now because Pinellas county get 6 months advance booking and everyone else gets 5. There is also 2 real nice piers at park if you leave the boat at home. There is some big snooks and redfish in the lil lagoon behind campsite. Keep some big 6-8" mullet nice and lively at dawn and dusk. The ocean side pier has great spanish mackeral fishing. Really cool old fort thrre as well. You and Terry will enjoy for sure! Heck if ya book it and see the site next to it open for a Friday and Saturday night hollar at me. We may just join ya.
Gee sounds like a great place to go visit friends huh Mike
