    Default Newnans lake

Do any of you folks in the Gainesville area fish Newnans? If so how is it? I am already thinking about my Fall Spec fishing trip to Florida this year and I have a brother that lives in Citra and on the way to lake Monroe I thought about giving it a try in Newnans. Thanks for any info. From a displaced Florida Cracker

The only luck I have ever had is on the north end at the creek mouth. Last year, when all the rain came, the specs actually spawned up there on the grass line in July and August. Never seen anything like it. My buddy and I had 50 two morning in a row by 9:00 during the spawn. It was incredible, but I have never had much luck trolling for them.

Thanks for the info Shane. My brother caught some on the north end of Newnans In January. In my memory bank which is not what it used to be I remember a friend of mine catching specks in the grass in August in lake Underhill in Orlando about 40 years ago. I thought that was very unusual. I have a cousin that used to live in Winsdor and he used to tell me that Newnans Lake was real shallow.
