crappie down !
I forgot to add the most exciting time:
Was over in front of the OPP, spider rigging from the front of the boat, about 1.6 MPH and had two poles go down at the same time. Picked up one and could not bring anything to the surface. Stopped trolling motor, reversed course and pulled the line. Up came a TROT LINE and I could not see any marker buoys on either end. I was fortunate that the hooks did not go into the line.
I was a nice guy and let the line go back into the depths without destroying it.. I believe that there was one fish on it.
I hate to think what would have happened if that line was closer to the surface and someones prop snagged it while they were going all out. I did not investigate to see if the line was tagged with the owners name.
Glad to hear you got over there. I'm still on "nighthawk". Maybe I'll be out next week.
After I got home I plugged in my battery charger to charge up the trolling motor batteries. My big battery did not seem to hold up to well today.
Wifey went out into the garage and said that it smelled "electrical" out there. Checked the charger and batteries, found that a 30A fuse holder was melting, the fuse apparently did not blow. Have to remove ALL of the batteries as that one is the first one in.![]()
It wasn't to far off from this time last year that Monroe was covered in trotlines. Sorrry to hear about yer troubles. Is that not covered under warranty??
Went by the boat dealer yesterday with the INTERSTATE trolling battery. Described my problem and was rewarded with a new INTERSTATE trolling battery.
Got home, replaced the inline fuse holder and fuse, reinstalled all of the batteries (4), reattached the battery chargers, checked everything out and it seems to be OK.
READY to go again.
Might be time to try NITE FEESHIN.
Your running 4 batteries on that boat? What caused the fuse to melt?
Two Batteries are my trolling batteries, hooked up to a switch to switch from one to the other,
one battery for accessories, mainly for use in my night fishing. I use LEDS, low current drain but I don't want to run the chance of depleting my main battery.
One battery for cranking my main motor .
I would guess that the battery developed a short and kept drawing MAX current when trying to recharge. Why the 30 amp 32 V. fuse did not melt and open up, I don't know.
