    Default Golden shiner question

How many of you bass or crappie fish with golden shiners? I know of a creek near my work that's full of em and I can catch shiners between 3 inches to ft long using a #14 fly hook with worm. I can catch them now but the summer temps have slowed everything till fall and winter. How cold does it have to get for the shiners to stop biting hooks and has anyone got any pointers for long term storage of shiners? In my neck of the woods (SC), these are a dynamite striper bait.
Oh I could wrestle a monster fish

When I moved here I fished with them a lot in winter. Used mostly the ones 12" or better for big fish. Hard to keep em in warmer weather. I preffered catching them with a net vs hook as it was harder to keep em alive as long trying to heal a hole in their lips. I kept them in a 120 quart cooler with aerator. Most of the baitshops have large 8'x8' concrete tanks or large stock tanks to hold em. If I could find a good supply of em 2"-3" I would use em for Crappie fer sure.
