question a florida lakes
i am thinking about coming down to fish some lakes during the winter and was wondering about the water, i have read that some lakes like crescent have a high saline content in the water and wondered if some of you guys who fish it, do you have to flush your motors after fishing there, thanks for any input. i also have some other questions as where to stay and good eating places if anyone would like to pm me, thanks for any info

I dont think the salt content in Crescent is high enough to cause major concern. Pm slabkeeper or southernyounggun if they dont reply though just to be safe. Ya need to watch for slabfests posted as we usually plan one each month and ya might hit one. If Monroe is on your list I could help with that one.

thanks alot huntinslabs, i will watch for the slabfests and may come down and fish one, what kind of fishing is more predominant down that way, spider rigging, trolling, casting to structure, or is it determined by the time of year and lake. the reason i was considerig maybe january is i was thinking the water temps in florida would be somewhat warmer and the trolling bite would be earlier than here.

All of the above. Good thing about our winters is the cold fronts do not last and have limited effect on the crappie. I prefer longlining, some prefer spiderrigging, some like fishing bushes and docks. Not much what I would call deep water here. Our trolling bite really kicks off in October and runs right through march real heavy. Some are still having good catches in areas. You should have no problem finding fish willing to cooperate.
