I don't want to see you, I want to see what you do when scalloping. Gear, equipment, water, depth, what the heck a scallop looks like in the wild. Stuff like that.

Size: 30.0 KBScallop gatherin' is exactly like an Easter egg Hunt 'cept underwater. The depth does vary just like in fishin', sometimes you can walk around in 3 foot of water not needing to be Lloyd Bridges, but most of the time it is 6- 10 foot with gauging the tide(Low) for easier less strenuous "treadin' water"! Caution flags on boats are legally required while gathering scallops and strict limits are enforced. Reports I've heard have been incredibly good this year, although I haven't been. After the scallops are iced down, they have slightly opened up easing the shuckin' process. Then a shop-vac is used to suck out the innards leaving the muscle(scallop) still attached to shell which you scoop out(a spoon is good, especially after slightly sharpening it's outer edge). Scallops are small but tasty in the GULF, however, though they reduce in numbers throughout the season due to the harvest, their respective sizes INCREASE due to age...just like Crappie.commers do,LOL! Anyway the length of the 2012 season has already been extended. Scalloping really is a group event Just do the math with the boat count, if you can count that high...also, be forewarned for the LONG walk back to the ramp after parking your trailer(especially on the weekends) and also the WAIT time when comin' back in for the day. Repetetive sun screen applications are advised or you will FRY like bacon.

    enjoy
