...target the stripers instead. Fished thursday and friday this week and the crappie bite slowed down for us at least. Thursday was actually pretty active but we kept losing fish for some reason, specks and stripers both. We ended up with a few nice fish though...these are the best of the 12 specks we kept. Only boated the two stripers
Friday we came prepared with some different baits for the stripers and a castnet to catch live shad but the mission was still big slabs first and foremost. The crappie bite was hot for about 7 minutes right when we started fishing then it just shut down. We caught 8 or 9 really quick but only one keeper and approaching noon that fish still didn't have any company in the fish box so we went to the striper hole. We caught 4 really quick and picked up a few more specks then it slowed down again before really turning on that afternoon. Once they showed up it was pretty ridiculous. We were throwing all sorts of things at them, crankbaits, jigs, topwater plugs, live shad, and caught them on everything but one bait in particular was extremely deadly. We're having a party next weekend so we stocked up on supplies for the partygoers. It took 4 full days of fishing (sunup-sundown) over the last few weeks to figure this out but I think we got it now.

Looks like you had a good time, those stripers sure are fun. Nice specks too.
Awesome ! ! !
