Hey redlighthooker. I noticed on another thread that you are taking a 2 week vacation around the 1st of March. That's a good thing to do because you'll need 11 days of it to sober up and come to reality that you guys got your butts whipped.

Rawhide went down to Talquin, he was looking for a speck to steal.
He was in a bind 'cos he was way behind and he was willin' to make a deal.
When he came across this young man fishn' with a stick and jiggin' it so hot.
And the Rawhide jumped up on a hickory stump and said: "Boy let me tell you what:
"I guess you didn't know it, but I'm a crappie fisherman too.
"And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.
"Now you jig a pretty good pole, but give ole Rawhide his due:
"I bet a wally marshal against your uncle buck, 'cos I think I'm better than you."
The boy said: "My name's Chuckauten and it might be a sin,
"But I'll take your bet, your gonna regret, 'cos I'm the best jigger there’s ever been."
Chuck, you shine up your uncle buck and jig your pole real slow.
'Cos hells broke loose in Talquin and the Rawhide steals the show.
And if you win you get this wally marshall for yours to keep.
But if you lose, Rawhide gets your fish!

Chuck Auten called me a couple of weeks ago and he was having dinner with Speckanator. It was really nice to have such a pleasant conversation with the man who has been giving us GA fellers such grief on Crappie.com recently. Speckanator told me that he and his wife are planning on coming up here to Lake Blackshear on March 24th when we have on of our "Get Togethers" and that he was not bringing his boat, just his motor home...Well, he may miss the Monroe vs Talquin Showdown because now he has decided to bring his boat and camper. He will be going down the Atlantic side of FL and back up the Gulf side to get here. I saw him leaving out this morning!!!...I hope you have a safe trip:cheers2

Does anybody know where I can get one of these in a lite?RoflRoflRoflRoflRoflRofl
Reckon ya'll ain't to sure yer gonna catch fish at all ifin ya'll already ordering hot dogs to grill after fishin. See we going CATCHIN and will be fryin feeshes afterwards.
You know were old and can't eat that much fried food. Our doctors tell us to keep it down to 4 or 5 times a week. We haven't got our calender adjusted to tell wether fried food are porter house steaks for sat. nite. Besides HOOKER feed 100 people last sat. afternoon(there went 400 filets)so we try to have several hundred filets for a cook out at the crappie shack at Talquin.
Just to clear things up...First of all, what the heck is a Talipia???:yikes...Is that something yall catch at Monroe??...But the only reason we are grilling some hot dogs is because it is quick and easy to fix and they are mighty good with chili. coleslaw or just mustard, ketchup and onions...That way we can get back to get some more fishing in:fish...When we have a fish fry at Talquin, we feed everybody and just frying all those crappie fillets alone takes a good 2 hours, not to mention all the preparation with Hookers secret recipe and doing all the side dishes...We can't fry as many of those huge fillets at one time, so it takes a while. We saw the pics last week of those Monroe fillets. So as you can see, we are just getting enough nourishment during the weigh-in celebration so we can head back out and "cull" the rest of the afternoon...Or we can fillet the ones we were gonna cull and pack them in dry ice and ship to yall for a real fish fry!Rofl
Them were not filets!! They was just the cheek meat. The filets have to be served on broiler pans.

Speckanator, during this thread, you have proved yourself a worthy opponent(along with a few others), so you have earned the right to have a Hot Dog named just after you RoflRoflRofl

I got to confess something ........
I quit drinkin, cause I was gettin a little carried away with my posting and messin with folks on the forum.....
I found that rather boring, and I decided to, as long as I don't erk anyone out, perhaps I can imbibe just a little, etc, etc..
Just gotta keep control of things, etc, etc.....
So, I have finally decided to take a nip (wild Turkey 101), and thus have, decided to post something .....
I really haven't had the heart to jump into this thread concerning the humorous bashing of Talquinites VS Monroeites....
Been sober, but, even though I am a confirmed Monroeite, I do have deep and sentimental roots to Talquin.....
My Grandpa had a house/dock/boathouse on Talquin, and when I was younger (1966-1970) when I was in that part of the country,
I would stop in and visit, and, we'd go fishin together.......
I've seen Talquin bone dry with all them stumps everywhere, and, seen an alligator turtle almost as big as the jon boat we were
riding in.
So, yeah, I got fond memories of Talquin, brings back goooood memory's... = I love that place ! ! !
Even though I haven't been there in 40 + years, I still treasure that lake....
We fished the river below the dam as well as the lake = never forget ! ! ! !
So, I submit this as my excuse for not participating in bashing all those JoJo/no catchin mo-yawn's that live/fish up there :) :) :) :) :)
Ha ! ! ! !
Yep....Theres one in every bunch..Glad you chimed in Phantom..Makes me wanna take a little nip!!:cheers2
Hoopshooter and Totntrots are correct, that last sentance is very well said. The rest of that horsehockey must be the turkey talking.
Class won't fill your live well!!!!!! RoflRoflRofl For all those JoJo/no catchin mo-yawn's that live/fish up there here's a big laugh fer ya!!!!!!!!
Uh Oh SpeckleTater...Time to take down your signRofl...Lookie here at what Beth done went and caught at Talquin...17 1/2 inches long...Exactly 3 lbs!!!
