Since i've had battery trouble this year am full of questions about batteries and chargers, do you alternate batteries for trolling or just use mainly the same one? Do you use multiple chargers? Got a cheap charger from Tractor Supply that don't seem to fully charge(drop to zero) the battery. Does your fuse holder get warm during charge? Thanks for the info seem to be a question mark this morning.--shu
The switch that I have in line with the two trolling motor batteries allow me to select which battery I want to use. I mainly start off using the INTERSTATE SRM 27 600CCA 750MCA battery. This battery has lasted over 4 hours steady trolling at about 1.2 MPH according to GPS. My second trolling motor battery is a deep cycle size 24 battery. Can't tell you how long it will last, because I haven't "tested it".Quote:

My batteries are in one compartment and the chargers are in a second compartment. When I am charging the batteries, I have the compartment lids propped open to allow ventilation.
I might have to think about putting a smoke alarm in the compartment.:yikes
The fuse holders do get warm, because of the heavy current going thru them, BUT I don't think that they should get so hot that you can't hold on to them.
About 2yrs ago the inline fuse melted and the fuse was not blown. Replaced it and still no power to the tm. Put the charger on the battery and noticed smoke coming from the foot controll. Took the tm off the boat and took to a repair shop. It had a short somewhere in the shaft and fried the wires from the foot control to the motor. Had to rewire the whole thing at the tune of $240. Better then buying a new one. Hope this never happens to any of you guys.
Thanks for the info have been thinking of an extra battery since both batteries have failed this year already and had to fix the charger(which may have started all the trouble). Want to stop the working and get to the 'catching'. Wanted fish tacos yesterday but wife said the beer batter is my favorite so settled for a fish sandwich w/salsa.--catch a bunch--shu

No help with you electronic problem, but thought you might be able to provide some advice. Just joined the site, also just relocated to central Fl. I have a boat and close access to Lake Monroe and St. Johns river. Any advice on getting started on these hot August days for crappie or bream would be appreciated. I have two local Grandsons, ages 9 and 7, and am anxious to get them started catching fish.

Welcome Lucca glad ya found yer way down here. The river is no secret for bream. Crickets or worms under a float and ply the banks. Monroe will be turning on soon for Specks and is fishable by about every means thinkable. Just get out and look for the flotilla. I will be outta pocket fer fishing this weekend but soon if ya want you can follow and see what and where we are fishin. Stay active in here, join the conversations and watch your pm box as ya go. Look at the stickies up top and check the slabfest schedule, that is where you will gain the most info possible. And some great food to boot. Might even win a doorprize and most of all bring the family for the fun.
