Shad and Crappie Derby ! !

A good friend on a local radio station does a morning fishing report and has heard about our "Slabfest", and, has asked me to pass along to all you guys an invitation to participate in their "Shad & Crappie Derby" this year (Jan 1st), also put on by "Coastal Angler Magazine".
Something to do about registering, taking photos of fish caught, then turning in pics, etc.
Not sure, haven't read through the whole thing yet. (looks like it runs for two months).....

musta won big fish stu, good job, what was the weight?. Wish i coulda made an entry, caught a few hogs this year. I would be outta my league at the crappie masters tourney though, good luck!

The fish wasnt what I would call a serious slab / 15 inch fish, but it was a winner

as far as being out of my league with the Crappie Masters, its a professional turney, and Im clearly not a professional............. Ill be the first to admit to that, especially being I have never once fished in a turney (short of our slabfests), so jumping stright into the Masters is a hell of a reach for sure.

My thoughts are its a little less then a year away, my ticket is punched, its close to my neck of the woods, and I havent a thing to lose Im in LAST PLACE............... looking to get lucky and move up

Ill be giving my buddie Mike a call, thats his home turf. If anyone will know where the fish are active.....its gonna be Speckanator

Never expected to win this thing with a 15 inch fish............but if you snooze ya lose and Im thankful I did sign up.

Next year when it rolls back around Ill push as many of my CDC buddies as possible to sign up and see if we can keep this thing in the CDC family.

If it wasnt for Phantom posting up his information....................... I would never have thought I would fish a turney, let alone something this big.

I have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Going dancing with the pros LOL

tournament fishin is fun and sure does bring out the best in a person, using all skills
you have leaned ove the years, watching and talking with the pros, getting new
ideas.
I've really enjoyed it the past two years.
Keep it up you are going in the right direction....you have skills with you 'long lining
techique's" that are really good...............

well good luck, take a week off work and fish everyday! Im sure ya gonna catch fish, just hope lady luck is one your side and gives ya some good uns! All you can do is find the fish anyway, you cant choose whether or not a big fish gets your jig before a dink does.

Stu you're to modest....you and Chris have brought home the bacon at every slabfest and that's not all luck. I'd say you're doing something RIGHT all the time. I would agree with SYG if it weren't for your track record at landing the pigs.

My bad Stu, when i wished ya luck I wasnt tryin to make it out like you couldnt fish, lookin at some of the posts i musta came off that way. i just thought that since most tournaments were only decided by ounces that a little luck goes a long way. To me just b/c some guy beats aother guy by a once doesnt mean hes that much better, it just means he got lucky that some fish just ate a 3 oz shad and that he caught it. i wasnt in anyway sayin you needed luck to catch fish or werent capable.
