    Default John's Lake Crappie

Fished John's Lake last Sunday for crappie. I did finally catch two nice specks, 3 bass and a bluegill in 2 hours. There are way too many bass boats zooming around out there. I think the bass guys are as bad as the pleasure boaters. Felt like I was rocking all morning long.

The one and only public ramp dosent help either. Been caught there one too many times by staging local bass turneys, taking up every inch around the launch ramp waiting for someone to say GO!

Talk about a mess. I always thought it was launch your boat safely, then get the heck outta the way.

Johns lake is known state wide to greenie chasers. I am amazed its still just a single launch ramp. When I do go its always during the week. the weekend early mornings can become comical.

Best speck fishing we have ever had there was usually on the eastern side in the north end by the fish attractor, and the southeast shoreline where the lone house sits on the corner.

Went back to John's Lake yesterday evening for a few hours. Man is that lake full of bass! I was long-lining some grubs all over the place and just before 7:00 p.m., the fish turned on. I caught a 3 pound bass, two more broke my line within 5 minutes, and then two other 1.5 pound bass. Finally, I did pull in one large crappie that was easily 1.25 pounds. These fish were all in about 7-8 feet of water.
