funniest things caught

Not my catch but one morning while fishing for hybrid bass on the surface,the fish schooled between my boat and my fathers boat.After catching some fish I heard my mother shout for me to come over to them,when I got there my mother had a top water hanging from her earlobe,my father had hooked her.Getting in the boat with them I found the hook buried past the barb,I pushed the hook thru her ear and clipped it off and it fell free.Later I told her there was no charge for the ear pierceing or for the hook remove.

That had to hurt.

Still in the middle of reading all the hilarious stories but I wanted to throw one in here from my time in Alaska. The girlfriend, Ms. Anchovy, and I were king salmon fishing last year at the Homer fishing lagoon along with 50 or so mixed locals and tourists. I had caught one 10lb fish on the incoming tide with frozen herring earlier in the morning but as water flooded into the lagoon we changed setups to bobber and roe sacks. Suddenly she yells fish-on and goes through the motions of fighting the fish. When it gets close to shore I can see 2 bobbers trailing the fish. Immediately my heart sinks as I start to ponder the possibilities; the fish was tangled in someone else's line, the fish had bitten two hooks etc etc. When I finally netted the fish I saw what had happened, her hook had caught the line with the bobber attached which was hooked in the fishes' mouth! The only thing holding onto the fish was her hook at the bobber which fell undone the moment I grabbed the lines! Talk about keeping tension on the fish.

I have caught plenty of fishing poles over the years. I have even caught my own fishing pole after losing it overboard in 40ft of water. The most memorable pole catch was when I was drift fishing what looked to be a wooden boat wreck in 65 ft of water on the Ohio River. One of my rods got hung up and when I finally got it free I could still feel the weight of something at the end of my line. When I finally got it to the surface it was 3 antique fishing rods and reels that were tangled up in a cable that was maybe part of the boat. The fishing rods were metal with glass eyes. It was hard to read what type of reels they were. Whats the odds when you figure those things have been laying down there for better than 50 years!

I have also caught a beer can that I hooked thru the hole in the tab, a lounge chair, rocks, a dead fish that was laying on the bottom and countless other things.

The antique rods would be a great catch for sure. I think I am up to four rods caught none of which were antique.

Caught a 6v battery below the spillway at grenada lake in ms, hooked one of the springs on top of it, dang thing felt just like a fish, was moveing all over the place in the current.
