A friend of mine had a bass trip planned for the next day. The evening before he backed his truck up to his boat and proceeded to pack his stuff in his boat. The next morning at 4:30am all excited he came out jumped into his truck and took off. Some 40 mi down the road he and his partner stopped at Cracker Barrell for breakfast (still dark outside) they went in and eat then returned (now daylight) to find his rig gone.First thing he done was call his wife to tell her to call the insurance agent and get things started to which she replied. You big dummy the boat is still under the shed!!!!!!

Turned out to be a good dumb mistake.

If true, it's pretty scary he can't tell (by feel or by sight) that his boat is behind him.

Secondly, if he don't do the ol' once over before pulling out of the drive that scary too. Check hitch coupling, lights, tag, spare tire, strap, motor tilted up, saftey chains then wallet, cell phone, fishing gear.

I agree with the above... It's pretty scary to think he made it that far. I can't fathom not knowing it wasn't there. I like to watch my boat behind me in every mirror check Down the highway.

We had a similar situation some 30 years ago. We loaded the boat and 15 hp motor and headed to the lake. It was too windy, so we headed into the mountains to do some crick fishing. After what I remember being a 200 mile jaunt, we got home after dark. Then we noticed the cowling missing from the motor. My buddy (whose boat it was) exclaimed 'those cowlings are impossible to find, let's backtrack and see if we can find it."

So we backtracked the whole day's route in a hurry, never finding it. He mused that someone must have picked it up.

When we unhooked the boat, yes it was right in the boat where it had bounced off into.

When I still had mt glassmaster I was always checking it in the mirror and every so often I stopped to check the stuff that was in it.
