    Cool Gulf Shores In December

    December 10, 2009

I just spent four glorious day at Orange beach in Gulf Shores. This was my wife's first trip to the Gulf of Mexico. For once I did not do any fishing, just sight seeing. We also went to a few Shopping Malls as well as the new Bass Pro Shops in Daphne Alabama and Pratville Alabama. Had a great time. When we left for home yesterday the temperature was 77 degrees. Chicago, Ohio and Indiana were being hammered with snow. We are talking a few feet of snow! Brrrrrrr! Thank God for the South. Here are a few photos. Enjoy!

i know it was killing you , not being able to fish. such a nice place to be with the one you love at your side. she'll probably remember this day when you really really want to go fishing!lol lookes a little chilly from the way you are dressed.still though anytime you can be near the water or around a loved one you need to cherish it!have a good time!

Nice pics. Glad you had a good trip. But, seriously, Orange Beach & no fishing. LOL. Just kidding. Great memories.

Shipahoy, I was last down there in 2004. Your photos remind me of what I am missing.

Big Crappie 2, I wanted to get a charter and go after some Grouper, Snapper and Flounder but the weayher and the wife had other plans. We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary so I tried to do as many things as she wanted....walk on the beach, go shopping, walk on the beach, go back to the mall and movies, walk on the beach and go to Bass Pro Shops. She is a keeper so that is what we did and we still had fun. We will go back in June and I'll probably get a charter out of Destin or Fort Walton.

If you head back down to that area I have a good friend that runs a charter out of the Flora-Bama on the State line there. He is bay side at the state line. Name of the boat is the Sure Shot and his name is Capt. Mike Salley. Great guy and will put you on them. PM me and I can give you all the local spots to eat. My second home forever is Perdido Key, FL.

Snapper and Grouper are out of season in December in the GOM, next time do yourself a favor and book an inshore trip for Bull Redfish, Black Drum, and Sheepshead!!! Lots cheaper than the deep sea thing and all 3 of those fish eat real good!!!... plus the weather isn't really a factor on the inshore trips!
