If I am understanding correctly the issue you are having is getting it stored in place as in making the locking lever go over the ring correct? I have the Minnkota also and one thing I had seen on here was to loosen the set screw and back that locking ring up a few turns. It gave more room between the ring and the motor housing and I do not have to pull/tug as hard to lock it in place. It also help with my finder wires not getting pinched as easy. Hope this helps
Well after a few times out after lubricating the cradle and shaft it works much easier, thanks all for the tips
That's interesting. I've never had any trouble at all pulling up and stowing my Minn Kota Power Drive V2, but it is a real chore to deploy it.
Sometimes things do get better as they work out the bugs...Loved my last one so much I bought another one for my new boat. I know someone who has burned out a couple of boards, but he wasnt using the right size wire. I'm not saying this was the case with you Psmith, but just a piece of general info for everyone.
Take a look at this thread blair...maybe it will help you out

I did adjust the collar, but maybe not enough. It helped, but there is still a little difficulty. I haven't put any Armorall on it yet, and I think I need to try that. Also, I'm not sure I've been pushing down on it, and I'm going to try that. If it is still difficult, I guess I'll adjust the collar a little further. Thanks for the refresher.
