798c Install - Tips, Advice or NoNos?
Got a 798c coming in Sat morning before I head out for a trip on Monday for a week to catch some Craps...
Thought maybe you folks here could help reduce my learning curve with any helpful hint and wrong turns y'all many have made along the way!

What kind of boat? There are alot of different conditions that will affect where you mount the transducer. Posting a picture of the transom would help.
The first thing to do would be to have someone with you drive the boat along at 8-10mph. Lean over the transome and look for the best area to mount the transducer with the least amount of bubbles and turbulence.
Because the SI transducer looks out to the sides, you have to have an unobstructed view left and right. I have to tilt my engine up slightly to get good images on the left side. You may not have that problem, but it important to pick the right spot. I also have a deep V hull that causes some issues.
Also, make sure that the transducer is level. If your boat rides slightly tilted, you may want to account for this.
Do you have other fishfinders that will remain on the boat? If they use 200khz or 83khz, you may get interference.
Post us some picts and I am sure we can help you more. The rest of the installation is pretty straight forward.
Good Luck,
RGecy

Went ahead with the install tonight, went pretty darned smooth... interpretation of the mounting instructions was a little hairy, but all in all I think I got it - here are some pics!

I dont think you are going to have too many problems with that installation. Flat bottom boat and looks like you have a pretty good gap between the transom and the foot of the engine.
Good Luck and post some picts when you get em.
