converting bow mount TM to Transom mount
I have 2 motorguide trolling motors ....one is a foot cable controlled bow motor (currently on my boat), and I have an older radio controlled ( LAZER) motor that I am thinking about mounting to the auxillery transom I have on the back of my boat. I have a gator mount...but this seems too bulky to try and mount on the back of my boat. I am looking for something that would combine the mounting tilt up bracket of a normal transom mount motor, with the open clamp bracket MG uses for their bow mount motors (clamps to a 1 3/8 inch shaft) . I think I am going to have to fabricate something as I have not found anything like this out there. Anybody here do this before?
I am planning on putting my second gator mount on the bow of a smaller boat I have then I can switch this motor back and forth from small boat to the transom of the larger boat. I have an old minnkota transom motor I am thinking about cannablizing the bracket and shaft from.... then buy a MG column support assy and fabricate the two together. It would allow me to slide the motor up and down and also tilt it. What do you guy's think?
