    Default Humminbird customer complains

I have spent over $3,500 on the current Humminbird equipment that I am currently using so I feel I have a right to complain about my own equipment. First, and foremeost I do appreciate all the the H'bird guys do to help.

    Now the complaint:

My Matrix has apparently got something wrong with it to thew point it has blow the in-line fuse on both my boats. I'll check to verify this later. Since the lastest update I have a problem with the depth, and use of the 200/80 setting on the sonar(now only works with 200) and the boat icon actually leaves a gap between the trail and the icon. This exaggerates the slow update problem we all know and love.

The 997 since the last update showed a temp of -2 degrees F this morning.

I see now that prior to the update we are supposed to restore defaults. This may not be unavoidable, but would have been nice to know BEFORE the update was placed on the website. AND about the website, do you guys also notice that the H'bird website doesn't have images of a lot of their products. Looking back that doesn't make me bubble over with confidence in a company, when that company's product is actually technology based.

I mainly fish Reelfoot a stump in 2D at Reelfoot is practically invisible, except for the fact the bottom line disappears at the exact place of the stump.

I'm sure most of it is operator error, but I should have lucked into better output than either of these units has shown me so far.

Now PLEASE fix the slow GPS response. When I say fix, I mean make it work the way your competitors GPS systems work.

I apologize, but it's frustrating looking at that black screen all day then I got a call from DTG, and he got me started. I realize some of you guys make your living at Humminbird, but your living is made from people like me, or at least it was. I believe in dollar votes, if I complain and still buy something you win. No more dollars from me. And I will strongly promote the products I purchase.

I'll try the restore defaults update deal tomorrow, on both units.

I loaded Version 4.18 back on my 787 and it works ok now. My 997 has this mysterious blue line at 2 ft solid now but i can deal with that. It is def. a software issue. UT- as for the diffrence in the icon and track, clear all saved routes and tracks. NOT WAYPOINTS. This will solve that problem. Been through that twice.

Man I hate to hear that your problems are that severe with both of your HB products. I have heard all the problems with the SI units but have not heard of many with the Matrix units. Maybe Joby@humminbird can help you with those issues. He has helped many folks on here.

I with you on this I think it's a software issue also. My 1197 never acted the way it does now, with the old version. I think I'm going to change back to the old version and try it this coming weekend and see if my problems go away?? I have the blue line at times and the depth will go crazy at times, even the water temp is off from my 777c2. I'm with UT- I think for what we have payed for this stuff it should work without all this BS

I have a 997 also just got it and have not up graded the soft ware yet. My temp goes crazy also. Could the transducer be at the wrong angle?

Mine was not doing this until I upgraded to the version. It would be within a deg or 2 of my 777c2 and steady, not now it's 4 or 5 degs off at best and some times way off. I even have little white dots all over the screen when the outboard motor is running never had that before??

The blue lina at 2.5' deep is my only complaint now. I have to set my gain so low it doesn't show any returns. I have reloaded 4.18 back on them and it helped my 787, i guess i can live with the blue line.

Awful lot to pay to live with a blue line. My wheels are well oiled , but when they squeak they never let up. Just ask my wife, I can sustain a whine longer than any mere mortal.
