    Default Minn kota question

Having trouble with minn kota 55pd. the other day the foot control will not operate motor it will steer it but no power to prop. I can put power directly to the wires going to motor and it works . my question is this a bad board?? and if so where is the cheapest place to order I can not figure anyway to check board because it is all sealed up. thanks

    Default Possible Solution

The foot controller has a piece mounted onto it that when you step onto it the motor should run. When released it should stop. There is a switch mounted underneath that piece that you press with your feet that could be bad. Press on it with you hand, it should make a clicking noise and if it doesn't that switch is bad. Which means there is now power going to the motor. Hope this helps. The switch can be bought at a local boat shop.

the foot control is ok I put it on another unit and it worked ok that is why I am thinking it may be a board.

I had trouble with my board also when it was just a few months old...I was able to fix it, but I am now using a hand control box. After using it once, I'll never go back to another foot pedal or co-pilot!!!
