Default Trolling motor interference in 997 transducer

Has anyone else had problems with this? When I run my trolling motor (mounted on the bow) I pickup interfernce in the 997 transducer (mounting on stern). I did not have this problem until I mounted the new trolling motor. I have what looks to show waves on the picture when the trolling motor is running but they go away when I turn the trolling motor off. This only started when I replaced my MK Powerdrive with the MK Terrova.

I had that happen too. I moved my depth finder over to my starting battery fuse panel to clear it up.

This may or may not have any effect on your problem but I was watching a truck program this weekend and they were talking about hi power audio systems and they said to run the power cables up one side and the audio cables on the other to avoid interference problems. So you might try it if you have room to do so. Also if that does not clear it up PM Joby@humminbird on here and he can get you one of those interference kits they have.

I had the same problem. HB sent me a kit to take care of this---tried it this weekend and it took care of the problem. New update works better also.

Forgot to mention---I like your rod holders. I have them on two boats, and they work great.

I had the same problem so I called Humminbird and they sent me a kit for my trolling motor and my transom It cleared up the problem but was a pretty good little job to change the transducers, power cables to unit, and install the in line filter on the trolling motor. But there was no charge from humminbird

Thanks for the info. That is all I need is another electronics project for the boat but I do need it to work with the trolling motor running (lots of scouting performed this way).

rockmike, Glad you like the holders, let me know if you have any problems.

You shouldn't have to change the transducer, at least I didn't. I have two units and interlink, and it took me about an hour to hour and a half. Not too much of a project if you have the tools handy. Of course, I like to piddle around with my equipment.

    Try adjusting the sensitivity.

When I first called HB, they told me to set the noise filter to "high-3," but that didn't help. They sent me the kit and it took care of the problem. Probably doesn't apply, but be sure your electronics aren't on your trolling motor batteries.
