    Default HB 787 c2i questions

speckhunter has one and I liked it pretty good. I was looking at them so maybe he or someone can answer some questions for me.

Does the unit not come with a transducer?

I saw "available" list which consisted, of other things, a dualbeam plus transom transucer, a quadrabeam transom transducer and a dualbeam thru hull trolling motor transducer.

What is the difference between the dualbeam and the quadrabeam, other than two beams, obviously. LOL

What's with the thru hull trolling motor transducer statement?

Hey Brad, if I'm not mistaken, unless you order special, they come standard with a transom mount dual beam transducer. It has 20 and 60 degree cones. The Quad beam gives you side imaging beams also. I'm not sure about the thru hull capabilies in an aluminum boat but if you call Humminbird, they should be able to clarify. Good Luck.

That thru hull trolling motor transducer threw me. If I remember correctly, it wasn't a thru hull / trolling motor... no slash. So I guess I'll have to call HB. Is yours the dual or quad? I'm a little confused about the "side imaging" wording too.

Mine is a dual beam. Side imaging does basically the same thing only shoots the beam to the sides of the boat for seeing under docks, or anything other than directly under the boat.

Side imaging is one of the most amazing inovations in the fishing industry. Lowrance in coming out with their verson before summer. If I were you I would wait until they do and see if the price goes down.
The HB comes with everything that you need. I am not sure what all the quadbeam does but the thru hull can be moutned inside of a fiberglass boat and will see through the bottom. Side imaging will show you a picture of the bottom of the lake or river. It almost looks like a picture of the moon's surface and shows all of the detail and structure. I spent a year trying to figure out how the side imaging worked and a friend of mine was able to show me everything in a hour.
One other thing that I suggest is to save up if you can and buy the larger screen.

This is not a "side image" or "side scan" unit is it?

I have just been kicking the idea around of getting one. I haven't completely convinced myself yet that I NEED one. It sure was nice having those maps though. The channels do things that I didn't realize with just a fishfinder.
