How to fix broken connector for GPS cable?

A gps connector that plugs into the back of my Lowrance came apart. The part in my hand just slipped off. It does not seem to have broken (no broken areas on the plastic) but it no longer stays in place very solidly when I slide it back together. Unit is 4 or 5 years old. New cable is just under $50 bucks. Ouch.

Do you think superglue will hold it together? Any other idea?

I think something like RTV would last longer. Superglue gets too hard.

At first I figured the connector itself had broken, but it doesn't look like it. The others are built the same way so I wonder how they stay together? I just don't see anything other than friction holding it in. It does have a bit of friction holding the 'bad' one when I fit it back together but I started to have some weirdness so I suspect the connection is becoming loose again.

Mine did the same thing and I called Lowrance and had to send the unit back to them. They said I didnt line the plug up right when i reconnected and blew out my GPS antenna. They sent me new cables and a new antenna for free. Billy

I'd try 2 part epoxy and rough up the band one the cable with a medium grit sand paper a little and do the same inside the collar on the connector. Super glue is pretty brittle and doesn't really hold all that well on a smooth surface. Just be careful though, you want that collar on the connector to be able to rotate and lock the cable in place.
