Default Circuit Breaker for Trolling Motor

I am installing a Minn Kota Power Drive trolling motor on my pontoon. It calls for 6 ga wiring...which I am in the process of installing. Can I hook the 50 amp circuit breaker directly on the postive post of the battery. The circuit breaker has copper arms...which fits fine over the positive post of the battery and the hot wire hooks to the other end. Hope my description makes sense. Thanks in advance.

That is what the large opening is for on the circuit breaker. No need to have any other place but at the power source.
