Default CanePole-Is there such a thing?

Is there a program that would allow me to hook up a Si unit and record what I was seeing and then make a map of it. Does oziexplorer have that kind of capability? I would like to map some of the places that I fish that will never get mapped by the big boats because most of the areas won't meet their critieria. Just wondering how this could be accomplished. Maybe I need to take some electronics classes after I get my doctorate. :D

Yes this can be done using Ozzie and the SI. Ozzie like all map programs deal with pictures. When you record, SI gives you a waypoint. When you snapshot, SI gives you a waypoint. SI uses PNG file format which can be converted to BMP which Ozzie uses. Ozzie can also use PNG. Just looked it up..............

The trick is calibrating the map. You gottas have a known reference like a bridge, etc.

Yes, I have done it before. This is one reason why I want the SI GPS fixed. You can do the same with Fugawi too.

Thought I would toss this in here also, I have not used oziexplorer before. I also have a Lowrance unit onboard my system is connected to, my Humminbird is there just for the SI,

What I do when on a lake not supported by the map chip makers is use a program called Dr.Depth DrDepth - Sea bottom mapping software for PC and Pocket PC I either save my recordings to a chip and download to a computer later, or hooking up a cheap second hand laptop I have, I can create a map as I go. The program takes GPS data and sound readings and makes a map of the lake bottom while you fish.

I am not sure of the specifics behind using Humminbird sounding data in DrDepth, might want to look into it and see what you think.
