    Question 12/24 motorguide problem

Bought a 96 boat with a 12/24 motorguide. Runs in 12v mode but nothing in 24v. was trying to find something that shows how the motor is wired and what the voltages whould be on what wires. Anyone have any info?

Depends on which one you have. Try here: jonestrollingmotor.com
He has several diagrams that might help.

At the trolling motor you will have three wires, a black, white, and red. The black is ground and usually the white is 12V and the red 24V. If they're reversed, the 12/24 switch will work backwards but won't hurt anything electrically. At the batteries, you will have two batteries. The ground will go to ground on one of the batteries. The red to positive on the other battery. Place a 6ga wire (jumper) connecting the two terminals that don't have a connection (pos on one battery and neg on the other). Now connect the white wire to either side of the jumper. Hope this helps, John
