997 gps

With what I now know & how my 997 reacts in finding way points I think I would wait to see if HB is going to have a proper fix. Yes I love the Si images but its been like paying $2000. list for ?? like I feel I only got 1/2 of what I was supposed to get. Actually I had plans to get a 917 or 957 to run along side 997 so I could use 997 on Si & use other for GPS, downlooking & Quadra beam BUT I have canceled all plans to wait for my FIX......If fix turns out to be Hogwash I will use 997 for Si & get a Furano or Garmin system thru & thru.......Yes I am very disappointed.##@%&## It is possible I could also be upset..........

A unit with the electronic compass always knows which way your facing in relation to your waypoint so it can better point you in the right direction.

Like Humminbirds electronic compass... Looking near about due North..

I run a garmin 162 on nearest with my 997 on side scan, do not care if the HB gps is not great, it works good enough to find my bass holes but running the garmin with the side scan can you make sure you do not go over some places you all ready have found. Side scan is what it is all about. Finding new beds, after I locate them I use my under water camera to see what is down there before I make a new way point. You can see what the sturctue is and see fish//
