    Default Need trolling motor troubleshoot

Today I was crappie fishing and my foot pedal quit steering the motor. Something let go either at the pedal end or at the other end of the cable where it goes into the head. The pedal just kind flops up and down now with no friction at all. I turned the pedal over and it appears all is working in the pedal itself. Got power...just wont turn anything when i push it back and forth. It must be inside the cable either at the pedal end or up where it goes into the head. Are there any connections on either end that would come loose to cause this? I thought maybe I'd ask here before I dug into it...might save some time. Thank you.

Sounds like a broken steering cable. Speaking from an experience I had last month with a motorguide. Mine broke about 12"from the head. New cable $116.00

Agree, sounds like a cable let go.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.

    Call John Jones at jonestrollingmotor.com at 870 773 3474.

He'll tell you what happened, sell you the parts and tell you how to fix it. Tell him you got his number from somebody on Crappie.com. I've been trying to talk him into becoming a sponsor here.
