997 did alright the first time out. The transducer Did not kick up a roostertail like the compact transducer did. I was happy. The 997 did not loose bottom lock at WOT. I was again happy. I installed the transducer in the same location the compact transducer was located. I was able to shoot either direction with no blockage (that's signal blockage Frank). So far, so good.
I am struggling to be optimistic about the gps. I will check it out next time I get the boat on the water. I believe I need to let my leg heal a little more. OUCH..
By the way Joby Humminbird, the 797 and 997 perched atop my desk both have assembled in USA embossed in the plastic housing. What is the difference between assembled and made in USA?

Sounds like some Wal Mart skullduggery to me.
By the way, I lived in Arab, Al when working with NASA. Took me a long while to figure what the Arab folks were talking about when they mentioned "coasting" and "roll tide".
Them folks were getting in their vehicles and coasting down the mountain to Lake Guntersville and taking a bath using Tide soap. My o my.![]()

The difference between made a assembled in the USA. We purchase parts from 1000's of manufactures and who knows where the parts come from. We design everything here in Eufaula and assemble the unit from a bare board all the way up to assembling the unit
