    Default Rotary Switch

I have a 13ft. 2 man boat with Steering Foot Pedal Control, and a new Motorguide 46lb. hand control trolling motor. What i want to do is make this trolling motor work with a speed switch next to the left side of the boat at the rear seat. What i was thinking was to take the Rotary Switch Assembly out of the housing and wiring it to a box to the left side and then to the battery. All i will be doing is removing the hole top of the trolling motor, run 3ft. of wire to the Rotary Switch ( that i got from the inside of the trolling motor) on the side of the boat and then to the battery. Will it work ?
A bad day fishing is better then a good day at work.

If I'm think what you doing is just moving the switch from the motor, to a different spot. I see no reason it wouldn't work for you.
I'm no engineer but I've done a few wiring jobs. Haven't burned anything up yet.
