    Has anyone out there used both? Is 997 worth twice the money! Ive worked myself nuts over this issue.

    I have had a 797 for almost 3 weeks now, Got the maps 1 week ago. I LOVE it. If I could afford the bigger screen I would buy one in a heartbeat... But I am thrilled with my unit and It is all I need. The unit has already helped find fish on a new ( to me) lake in post cold front conditions. This is the first deep meter I have ever owned that when there are fish on the screen they can be caught. It may boil down to need versus want, But you will enjoy either unit.
