    Default Trolling motor short

I have a bow mounted Minnkota edge 50 lb thrust, that runs fine on auto at all speeds. But when I flip the switch to manual so I can bump the foot button it sometimes stops working. Then it wont work on auto or manual until I pull up on the handle an drop the unit from about 5 inches, causing it to get a connection again (been this way since new). Does anyone know where to start to fix this?

Tilt the pedal all the way backwards. Now looking into the front of the pedal take a pair of needle nose pliers a tug on each wire. I suspect you may find a wire that looks like it is making contact but is just being held in place by melted insulation and is making intermittant contact
