    What size fuse should be used for 12 volt trolling motor?

    Kinda iffy answer is 1 amp per lb thrust. That is iffie.

    If it is a Humminbird model, everything they make uses 3 amp fuses.

    A 55lb Minnkota draws 42 amp at max speed so you would use a 50 amp. Not sure about the smaller ones but if you use Tom's guide and round it up you should be good to go.

    Don't use a bigger fuse than your wire can handle. For a 50A fuse, you want 6 gauge wire.

    canepole, humminbird does that to make sure it fries your unit before it blows. See smoke and run, that's their stand.

    Minn Kota and Motor Guide both call for 50 amp in line breakers I recommend and automatic reset my self but a manual will work also!
