    Default Dr Depth?

    Ok have a Laptop on the way just for the boat. And plan on keeping waypoints in it. And run Dr Depth on it to make my own maps .
    What will I need to make this work? Depthfinder will be the 987c-SI.
    What kind of cable to use between the DF and the lap top?
    Thanks in advance.
    Hope to some day have a setup like Cane poles. With the moving 3-d maps.

    That was me. I missed this at first some how. I'm using a 997 so hope this works the same for yours. Go to DrDepth first and check out the connection guide.

    http://www.drdepth.se/ -> Examples -> Connection Guide

    The NMEA 0183 data will have every thing DrDepth needs. Here you can see what you'll need to for the laptop wiring end. Instead of cutting off a serial cable I'd solder a 9 pin serial connector on to the pig tail that comes off the Humminbird GPS. I'm going to guess yours is the same as my 997. That pig tail should have a white, red and black wire. The red is hot so your not going to want that hooked to any thing. Cut it short and insulate with tape or heat shrink. White is data out and black is ground.
