    Default Lowrance X96

I'm thinking about purchasing this unit and am curious if any of you use it and if you recommend it

I plan to mount the unit on the bow with the transducer on the trolling motor.
Is this mount all I need to use the transducer that comes with the unit?

I've had the X96 up front on my skeeter for about 18 months and like it fine. The second item is just what you need to mount the skimmer transducer on your tm. You'll like it.

If it were me I would send back the origional trans back and have them trade it out for the puck style, i had the skimmer style on my motor and broke 2 of them before switching it over to the puck.

thank you for replying. I definitely will be going with lowrance. I have bird 565 it works fine but never had a lowrance b4 and I need one up front. I'd like to get a chart/gps/sonar combo but can't afford one them good ones. But I usually fish my home lake Murray, SC and getting to know it pretty good so I really just need sonar that shows fish and brush the best.

Just had a buddy install one on the front of his boat. Looks like a good unit. As mentioned, you would probably want to invest in a bracket to mount the transducer to your Trolling motor. They are not to expensive and work better than a hose clamp.

I was browsing lowrance site today looking at the x96 and downloaded the manual. it is copyrighted 2005.

Is x96 three year old technology? I want new tech.

The eagle is made by Lowarance but is a little cheaper.I would look at that. I have a eagle up front on the trolling motor and a Lowrance by the sterring wheel that came with the boat....Same things...
