most that I've read on here is that they work very well that way. Advantage is if you fish from the front of the boat you see what's under your feet instead of what's behind the boat.

just wondering just how many peoplep out there have there fish finder mounted on there trolling motor i just bought a 575 quadra beam and was thinking of putting it on my trolling motor are they that much better with fishing than mounted on the transom ?
just thought i would ask i have the braket to fit the motor just wanted to wait and see what would be the best hookup .

most folks on here run one on the back and one on the front.
not yet...but when my new 565 gets here...its going on the back...and the 200dx is going on the trolling motor....well the transducer is...
changed my mind...gonna leave the 200dx where its at and put the 565 on the trolling motor...

I run the X37 Lowrance on the TM, and the 520c on the back.

Hummingbird 565on the front for now Lowrance520c on the back along with a x -37 that came with the boat new not using just didnt want to take it off.
