    Default 1197 and BPS

Stopped by BPS on the way home from Memphis yesterday to check out the 1197. One salesman didn't have a clue what I was talking about?????The other "specialist" finally showed up and said they had sold out (all 2 of them). I started asking questions about the unit, specifically video out. He did not have a clue.

Not much stock available anywhere yet. I ain't needing one bad enough to rush things. I wanna see it work first.

I guess I could get me a Welcome to BPS job. naw.

Hmmmmph. I get fed up real quick with salespeople who don't know diddly about what they're selling - boats, gear, trucks, whatever.

I'm surprised they've even had any to sell, usually stuff
like that, they start advertising 'em for sale months and months before they even get their hands on one I waited 6 or 8 months for one of those
first 3d birds when they came out, in the meantime bought an Eagle, got
used to it, and canceled the back-ordered 3 or 4X h'bird...

Rush to market scenario. This is the reason why I ain't in a rush to buy one. I wanna hear some user results first hand. 987 good example of rush to market. It works, but, look what they have new to "get ya monies with" in such as short order of time. ah hah

Cable snot.:D Ain't heard that in a long time.

When the ability to play back your recordings after the fact on a laptop and/or desktop computer is available, what would the rush be to buy the 1197 be anyway. The more I look at it, the less sense it makes.

I can go out and do several recordings, tie off on something, switch my card over to the laptop and view the scans on the big screen, mark waypoints, add them to the HB and my Lowrance handheld. Go catch fish off the stuff I found.

So it takes a bit longer this way, but saving 2000.00 is going to go a long way. IMO

Snapshots only viewable( BMP). You can't playback the recording (SON) files from the sd card. I believe there is some shareware that let you view playback, but you can't do much with it. I ain't tried it, so I can't say for sure.

I ain't worried about the money. I am getting old and I ain't giving any more away and I can't take it with me. It would burn up.

I've got some model planes in front of the house in about 12 foot of water I am going to try to locate. They cost more than 2000 bucks. I guess I am just trading hobbies from crashing my planes to crashing my bank account.

That is what is under the water....somewhere out there. Them big ones don't float too long. Lots of metal. Weed eater size engines.
