I haven't used all of the of course but, I have found the Garmin Etrex Vista CX to be a great little unit. Example being, on my local lake there is a stump pile that I fish. Normally there is a 8 - 12 inch piece of it above the surface of the water that I use to locate it. A few weeks ago the water started rising and when I went to find it it wasn't visable. I remembered that I had stored it in my GPS and set a route to it. I pulled it up and it got me within 10 feet of it. I was impressed. Good luck on your search.

I too have only the Garmins, have a couple of the older models, GPS 72 and 76, and they get me to my spots pretty close, no trouble finding the stumps etc with my DF. I had a older Lowrance from before WAAP and I do believe the Garmins are more user friendly.

I just got this one thru the mail yesterday. Now I just gotta learn how to use it. :D Seems a few folks on these boards uses this one. I think the price is low for this unit, cheapest I could find anyway. This is a brand new GPS, not refurbished.

I have 2, both Lowrance and they both will normally put me right on top of a brush pile. The portable is a H2O. I had a color H2O but sent it back as the screen was too hard to see in bright sun light.

I like my Garmin Etrex Legend, not in color but I can download my coordinates onto it, and has waas built in. My next etrex will have a built in compass with it.

The SD card goes under the batteries. As for map Create, the best thing to do is load it and start playing with it. I loaded all of SE US on a 512 meg SD card from Map Create and still have loads of memory left. Just remember when using a SD card with Map Create you are limited to 5 cards you can register with it. At least that is with the 6.3 version. Don't know about the new one.
