I just purchased an external antenna for it so I can pick up a few more satelites. With the internal antenna, it seemed slow to update when I was using it on Lake Greeson to get on top of condos that I had waypointed. However, when my brother, who was watching the GPS, would say that I should start seeing the condo, almost every time just as he was saying it, I would start to see the edge of the condo on the sonar.
The other reason for purchasing the external antenna is the hope that I can see speeds below 1mph. With the internal, I never saw speeds below 1. I'm hoping that more satelites means more sensitivity to movement.
I have Navionics SD cards for US East and US South. I also have a SD card that I keep my waypoints on, and some of the free Enhanced Lake Maps that you can download from Lowrance's site. I just purchased MapCreate 6 for a good price on ebay, but I would not recommend it. I did not realize that it did not have the contour lines for the lakes, like MapCreate 7 does.

I use an e-trex legend--I prefer a handheld unit because I can take it hunting or any other place you want to go---my unit is accurate to 4-5 feet if you have enough satelittes to hook up on---i would recommend one that has WAAS capabilities--my first one did not---it seems to increase accuracy:) :) :)
My first handheld had an electric compass in it. My second one did not and I really miss that function.
My next one will have an electric compass.
