    Default Lorance LMS-520C

I just got a LMS-520C and want to know if there is an aftermarket connector that will allow me to hook the GPS module/antennae directly up to the sonar. It is set up to tie into a NEMA network and I will never need that option. I am also limited on space for wiring. Thanks, Randy

I doubt there is a way to just hook the GPS to the 520 without a lot of work. The GPS is part of the NEMA bus and that bus needs the terminating resistors to function.

You are probably better off using the provided "T" connector and buying a short cable to attach the "T" to the 520 rather than the longer one provided.

Thanks, that's just about what Lowrance told me. They also said that the sonar doesn't furnish power for the network (aka GPS unit/antenna) and that I should mount the antenna about 2 or 3 feet away. I get the power thing but why should it be mounted so far away when the LMS-522C has an INTERNAL antenna? I bought the external one because of recommended better reception and less chance of losing connection.

EMI from the SONAR can interfere with the GPS reception if the antenna is too close to the unit.

Is it mounted on the console or in it? I have a 522c mounted on the console in my centerconsole boat and the only time I lose sat. signal is under a very low highway bridge and then if I stay for a few minutes.

    Default Stick Steering

I have a stick steer boat and I have it mounted to my right front without anything overhead. I had intended to get the internal antanna but forums and dealers recommended the external antenna for better reception and less signal loss.
