Humminbird MEGA Sidescan Recording Snafu
Met Bon Temps at his place for 8am yesterday. We had a plan to explore some new ground and record what we drove over for later viewing on the computer. I have done this for years using Legacy Humminbird equipment (I like the old stuff as it's faster with the simple maps) and Hummviewer on my PC. Well we were very successful exploring and making recordings. When we returned to his house and I tried to view our recordings Hummviewer would not work. It said the file was not a valid Humminbird file.
Hummviewer and MEGA Humminbird files are not compatible. I found a program with a 14 day free trial ($50 to purchase) Reef Master Sonar Viewer Sonar Viewer for Lowrance and Humminbird Sonar Log Files. that works great with the MEGA files but you have to keep them short. Once I determine a time-distance-compatibility ratio I will follow up on this thread. We made 4 recordings that were too long, now I must figure out when to stop and restart the recording process to break up the recordings into smaller file sizes.
We still had a great time, Bon Temps new Bass Cat will plant you in the seat with his new prop. I noticed the biomechanics of the Hot Foot looked off when we were out and on returning to the house I realized the Hot Foot was adjustable. I slid the mounting base back so the Hot Foot Pedal was closer to his foot to begin with.
