I thought it was made to lay over on the deck while traveling. Am I wrong?

I installed the millennium mount. With older eyes I wanted to get the 106 sv closer. The millennium adjusts vertically from approximately 18-24. I like the unit. However when traveling down the road the unit has more lateral rocking.
i thought about mounting something from the deck at an angle up to the millennium mounting solution.
The later support/stabilizer needs to be approximately 18 long.
i have used Ram mounts for several years and like them but I havent found anything they manufacture that provides the 18 length.

I remove my electronics while traveling.

My wife lets me buy all the rods and reels I can hide.
DWILL you are not wrong.
I failed to mention I have a Helix unit mounted in front of this unit.
I think I found a RAM “like” mount that will allow me to stabilize the lateral rocking.
Thank You!

I loosen the lower knob to lay the fishfinders down on the deck and then retighten when I move around, since I don’t like it flopping around and don’t like it blocking my view while running the boat on the water.
If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.

I do need to get a piece of adhesive-backed foam like some of the stuff that we use for spacers in automotive panels (or to change the panel lines when we camo prototype vehicles) to provide my bottom fishfinders a little cushioning, though.

I understand your problem now. Personally, I would buy a double stack mount. But I also understand the cost involved in mounts.
I understand better now as well. I also think that a double stack mount (Millennium also sells one) that you can set down is better. For my previous mount (already sold), I used a Precision Sonar Poor Man's Stack bracket to get two fishfinders onto a single mount. I still have that bracket for sale if you want to free up floor space: Electronics Mounts.

Ram makes (or used to) pole segments that work with their ball mounts ...

I have an extra that is 21 base plate to base plate ...
