I was kinda wondering about that, seeing as how the slanted line on the screen looked almost like it was in Down Scan mode. And the sonar circle in the upper right of the screen looked similar to the Perspective mode directional icon.
I can almost "assume" that he may have his transducer tilted forward a click or two, which may be the cause of the slanted line being so long back towards/under the boat. But as far as buying a LS34 just to get the sonar circle .... uhhh, nah, I don't see me going quite that far, even though I'd love to have that option.
I've been seeing a lot of what look like crappie in every way in my lake but won't respond to jig. I'm 99% sure they are big gizzard shad. Scott
I'm also wondering why the line showing the direction and space being pinged by the LS34 looks to be showing that the LS34 is either tilted down a couple of clicks, or it's mounted backwards on the tm shaft or pole it's attached to (or both).
The sonar directional circle indicates that the transducer is pointing towards the back of the boat at about a 45deg angle. But we don't know which direction the trolling motor is pointing.
My apologies to catchNgrease ... the Gain @ 70% is probably not the reason for the "fireball fish". They're just close to the transducer (about 7ft away) and the amber palette could be the cause.
I'm also not familiar with the LS34 tdx and so it could be very different in what and how it shows things vs the LS32.
No apologies neccasary to me. The transducer is mounted on a decent stand alone swivel pole. Never really thought about a faulty install I will definitely check that for him

I would use the grid at least till I could identify desired size crappie . I sucked that egg for a while LOL . Should fill up a full grid at about 40 ft. (top to bottom)
Here are crappie with the LS34. Id be fiddling with your settings.Attachment 448536Attachment 448537Attachment 448538

ARE THOSE SHAD ?
Adjust your unit settings. You don't want to have depth st at 40' when your in 16' of water. It causes everything to bunch up and makes it harder to identify size of fish. I also keep my range out to 60'+ unless in very muddy water. Live scope does require more adjustments and I personally NEVER use auto anything. Scott
