Default Mega live non trolling motor mount?

For those who have separate mounts, is on one side sufficient or do you find times when it would be better on the other side of the boat?

I do not have forward facing sonar but I think it would have its benefits of being able to utilize both sides of the boat from time to time depending on your style of fishing. If you are fishing a river for instance I can see the benefit depending on what side of the river you're on. But if fishing a lake I would think you can just orient your boat to whatever side the transducer is on and downwind of your target. My opinion is based off of having your transducer mounted on either the port or starboard gunnel. If you have a way to attach it to the front of your trolling motor independent of it I would not think it would matter in either case

I don’t think it makes much difference as to which side of the boat as my mega 360 will work no matter where you put it..same for the mega live. I’ve never upgraded my trolling motor from a Power drive v2 Ipilot 12 volt 55lb thrust on my g3 jon 1648 so can’t attach to trolling motor. Used the Da Ducer for years,,but this year switching to a fishing specialities mount for the mega live and a Geiger tec marine mount for the mega 360 to clean up the front and side of the boat while also in front running 3 depth finders and going back to mounting my DI transducer on the bottom of the trolling motor. Primary reason for not upgrading trolling motor…as guys in bbc forum are posting issues with their trolling motors due to weight of mounting all these extra transducers on their motors creating issues of deployment and mechanical issues. I will use separate mounts and 55 lb thrust works fine for me.

I mounted my ML transducer on the left side of the bow on a Daducer pole. I wish it was on the right, since I hold the pole with left hand and could move transducer with my right when searching or adjusting.
Main reason I didn’t mount on right was the TM shaft is on the right side and I didn’t want interference when scanning forward. There’s no interference on the left when scanning forward.
Just my .02 and some days it’s not worth that.

So are there any vision issues that would make you want it on the other side.

Its really just a matter of preference in most cases as long as your ducer has an unobstructed line of sight to your target.
