GPS Coordinates

How do I type this in manually on my new sonar ? My unit asks for a 3 digit number in the column underlined. I tried to add a zero and it was way off on the chart from the area it should be. When I put in aspot with the correct format Ex. ( 55 55 555 ) they show where they should on the lake. Some other spots I want to add has a decimal point in the number also. I can't figure that one out either. Thanks
