    Default Is it possible?

I’m trying to get ideas about the possibility of mounting a Lowrance triple shot transducer to the bottom of a flat bottom Jon. Can it be done without interference or even done at all? This boat will be used in stumpy, tree filled lakes and it really would rather it not be stuck out of the back of the boat to probably get ripped off the 1st time out. Appreciate any ideas and pros and cons anyone may have experienced trying this. Thanks

Billy, I am trying to understand how it will be better to mount to the bottom of your boat hitting stumps than mounted to the back of your boat hitting stumps, either way you are going to hit stumps and damage your transducer but I thank you would do less damage if mounted to the back of your boat so that it would kick up out of the way.

This transducer is about 12” long and would stick out like a sore thumb. I have one mounted on my other boat but don’t fish in the timber or I’m sure it would have been damaged. Not too worried about it lifting up out of the way if I hit it head on but if the wind pushes the boat sideways and it snags, it’s taking the full blow sideways and it’s going to rip it off.

Are you talking about mounting it inside the boat and shooting through the hull?

What if you mounted on an arm like some of the kayaks do and swing it over the side into the water and then could lift if needed to clear obstacles?

I was thinking about doing that and it’s probably the way I’ll go. Thanks
