Humminbird 999 screen locking/freezing up - SD card/card slot/snap shot issue???
Hello
I'm looking for help on troubleshooting humminbird 999 screen locking/freezing up. The unit will lock up on 2d/di/si view and sometimes si view. Then, will not respond to any button pushing, including trying to power it off.
My system:
999 SI
959 DI
terrova I-pilot link
360 bow mount and GPS heading puck
All networked together with 5 port switch.
I just recently replaced cranking battery (upgraded to bigger size) and also ran wire to connect directly to battery (with inline fuse). Still locking up. Unit locked up will I was testing everything out (while in the garage) after rewiring straight to the battery.
I decided I had better upload waypoints, etc. from previous trip and got a "upload failed" message. Tried it again, and got the same fail message. Switched card to the other slot and upload was successful.
Questions:
Could using a faulty SD card slot cause the locking up issue?
What about the amount of snap shots stored to a card? I have another card that stays in the unit that has 1300-ish snapshots on it. Its an 8GB card and shows that still has 7GB+ of room left. Unit does hang up a little when scrolling through views and gets to the view where you can view the snapshots on the unit. Should I clean off the snapshots saved on the card? (I have them stored on computer)
I started using the other card slot ( the one that I was using and got the failed upload) last year because the card went in a little farther than the other slot - in both slots, the card snapped in like it should but you could see the difference between the 2 slots. If I remember correctly, this is about the time that the screen locking up started.
Anyone have any thoughts? This is driving me nuts!!! I plan to go back to suing the other card slot on the next outing.
Thanks in advance,
Ty (Nory)
